Thank you. Rutan still holds the record for creating the most aircraft models.

You could easily do a Scott manly impression

When I was at Oshkosh '21 it seemed like there were more VeriEze and Vans homebuilds than any other kind of plane put together, place was absolutely packed with them

Next time you do that, take the weight off the nose wheel by placing your left hand on the leading edge and lifting. The coffee grinder mechanism is not made to take the weight of the nose unless fully extended. The bronze gear will eventually fail. Many have.

I finished and flew a modified Long-eze in1994, called the Cozy. Great aircraft. When you lowered the nose, you did it wrong. The nose gear is “over center” when down which gives it the strength to handle the forces put on it. The way you lowered the aircraft onto its nose is WRONG as the way you did it puts undue stress on the gears. You will cause “damage” doing it that way. Later electric actuators had gears that could handle the stress. When you extend or retract the nose gear, put your hand under the canard and take the weight off the gear, then crank the gear. The nose is not heavy and it is not a problem lifting and lowering the nose.

I really like these aircraft, especially the EZ Long. Excellent range and very low fuel consumption for cruising. You can get automotive levels of mileage out this elegant aircraft. If could, I would liked to own an EZ Long or something with similar performance and efficiency.

I just noticed how much you sound like Scott Manley, I wasn't paying attention when the video started and I thought this was scott Manley until I realized

do you guys make sure to take it out to a pasture to let it eat?

It was at Oshkosh that I saw a Vari-EZ land like that.

You really should lift the nose by the canard as you crank the nose-gear up and down. The gear set that does the deed isn’t designed to dynamically handle much more weight than the gear itself.

What’s that A/C behind the Rutan? Looks interesting indeed!

Thought this looked familiar, then I realized John Denver was also flying a Rutan

Awesome! Is the mechanism based on hooks?

I think it's "VariEze" to fly this aircraft.

Supposed to pick up nose and wind up nose gear instead of winding it up with the weight on the leg.

I want to say singer John Denver was flying one of these when he crashed and was killed. 🤔

Not so well done you. You’re supposed to hold the nose up while cranking, then set it down gently by hand.

That's not the proper procedure. Lift the nose off the ground, crank the gear up, set it on it's nose. Your lucky you didn't strip the teeth off the mechanism. VariEze builder and pilot.
