‘Bang Upon the Big Drum’ is a British patriotic song written in the late 19th century about the 2nd Anglo-Afghan war. It mentions life as a British soldier, leaving England to go fight in India and subduing the Afghans, and occupying Afghanistan’s capital and the ‘Bala Hisar’.
