So i'm an elementary music teacher and this week my 5th graders had to do an assignment comparing an original version of a song with a cover version. I used this as the cover. I've loved hearing this song all week, and even had some students admit this is better than the original!!!

Glad that our video has stirred up such passion about performance technique and recording fidelity. To set the record straight, we did a bunch of takes to get the vocal performances right. The banjo sound you're hearing is indeed the banjolele in the video, but we did comp together that part from a few takes due to an ambitious tempo. We added in a light kick sound and oom-pah bass later. The most important thing was to explore this Top 40 song stripped of its Top 40 trappings. Thx for watching!

Most people I talk to don't really get just how talented and skilled the Gregory Brothers are.  Their methods skills, vocal training, and natural talent are so honed that they can make it look easy with constant humor.  I really don't think very many people get it.

I just wanted to say thank you to the Gregory Brothers for using their talents to bring happiness and harmony (both kinds) rather than selling it out.  <3 you guys..
