Step by step instructions on how to make a ring out of a silver quarter. Any quarter from 1964 and before has enough silver in it to be easily turned into a ring. It makes for a great unique gift, or even conversation piece for yourself. The whole process took about 4-5 hours, but if you get a little more aggressive with the hammering, you can probably get it done faster.

I bet if you grabbed it with a pair of pliers wrapped in electrical tape, it would reduce the damage. Just my $0.02! I'm definitely going to try this out!

Can you do this with a half dollar? I want to make a memory into ring

I've made a few of them years ago. I used a pair of vice grips two dimes a screw, screwdriver, knife 2 spoons and a hair scrunchie for the handle. I also had the spoons the other way to give a more rounded look. The dimes are to get help keep the pliers from chewing up the silver also to help keep it round. Pound until you can bring the quarter edges almost touching the dimes leave enough space to pop it out with a knife is about a size 7.5 give or take. With the screw and driver made my hole and carved the rest with a knife. I had fun making them.
