Aight, we may not hear Link speak, but he does speak. He's not a mute. Anytime we get a prompt to answer a question, Link is speaking. The whole reason why we never hear him speak is because as a player, we're supposed to project ourselves on Link.

🚩 Red flag 🚩! In Breath of the wild Zeldas diary states that she’s heard him speak! So yes, link DOES speak to Zelda, we as the player never see it though because Nintendo was and is afraid we would be disappointed or angry with the change or how he were to sound. The only time we have ever heard anything from link that’s not a grunt is wind waker links “C’mon” He says sometimes in the game. I’ve heard it.

as far as i can tell the only time they are together is Skyward Sword it’s also implied that they are together in spirit tracks and at the very least zelda has a crush on link in breath of the wild
