The video has nothing to do with Paris,Texas, but I 've tried to make a video that fits with the music of Ry Cooder.

Growing up in Yorkshire, my dad used to listen to Ry Cooder all the time, back in the days of car cassettes, finish the side 1, flip to side 2, rinse and repeat. I will always remember this song as one of his favourites. He was hugely into folk and western music, played too. He died suddenly when I was ten. Now, 30 years later, I'm married to a naturalized American, a naturalized dual citizen myself, and I live in Central Texas where I sit out on hot nights in my yard and listen to this and think of him. He was a good dad, for the time we had together.

I used to live out in the Australian bush and this music found me there. It's stayed with me since. Brilliant musician.

Paris, Texas is a beautifully shot film - nearly every shot is a masterpiece.

God, this film and this soundtrack. Paris, Texas is a cruel reminder that you may be done with the past but the past is not done with you. Whether it be searching for your wife or mending your bond with your son, love will truly triumph all. That moment in that peep show just... wrecked me. Cathartic, brutal and painful, this is mandatory viewing for all movie enthusiasts. Please check this out!!!

Listening from a cold and rainy Scotland, I can almost feel that Texan heat, thanks Ry Cooder.

In 1984 I was 19 years old when watching the movie in a cinema, combined with the music this was an epic experience to me for my whole life. I love it so much. The movie, the music can cure my hurts.

Ry Cooder puts more feelings into his playing than any of the hundreds of musicians this 90 year old music fan has come to love. You’re absolutely amazing, Ry, cheers, thanks, and❤ to you!

Traveled Route 66 through Arizona and New Mexico many times during the late 50s and early to mid 60s... this music absolutely fits the landscape. Both are incredibly beautiful. ✌

Tonight, I sit at my kitchen table in tears, remembering the dream that carried me all the way from The Netherlands to the United States—a dream of forging a life as a musician in the heart of rural America. Ry Cooder’s score for Paris Texas stirred something deep in me, a longing to be part of a world built on hard work, genuine connections, and the timeless spirit of the heartland.

Now, 35 years later, I see an America where greedy billionaire elites are tearing apart the fabric of our communities. I’m not afraid of change, but my heart aches for the hardworking people who are being forgotten and left behind by a system that cares more for profit than for the soul of this nation 😢

I remember having seen this movie when I was barely a child. Of course I didn, t understand the meaning of It, but years later it brings tears to my eye. I can, t hardly think of anything more beautiful and sad.

has anyone actually seen this film? I have. When it first came out in 1984. Actually I waited till it come out on VHS. Before DVDs. Anyone remember VHS tapes? I just recently showed it to my 18 year old daughter. Anways, this film, this desert flower of a film, has stayed with me forever. You can tell right away that a foreigner made it. The things the director notices such as the mexican music coming out of some cantina whilst the guy walks past are things only a foreigner would notice when coming into this country. Harry just played himself. Always has. And Nastassja Kinski. Beautiful as always. Great actors, actresses, director, cinematographer (Robby Muller). Beautiful music thanks to Ry. Wonderful film.

I watched this film 32 years ago when I was 15, I didn't realise that now with my own small 10 year old son I'd be living this film. The first time I watched this film it gave me a cold shiver in my back, now I know why.

In Spain 🇪🇸 this was the theme music for an information programme about a current topic. Imagine being a child in the 80s, listening to this song and discovering a world full of suffering and war, mostly.
In any case, a great song that touches you deeply...‼️☀ 🏜🎶 🎸

This music makes me feel sad, but it's like some weird kind of sadness that you enjoy.

Paris, Texas and Paris, France, what a contrast in settings, history, people, energy. I love them both, the music from Both. What Ry Cooder’s musical score does for this Paris is in a perfect tone for the town, a versatile musical genius for sure, both south of the border and north of the border. Cheers for him!😊

Thanks to my late father...who took us on all those road trips back in the late 50's early 60's when life was much simpler and enough highways and gas stations made it possible and the population was only about 190 million. What a better time to have lived.
