3 Mistakes to Avoid When Building A Raised Bed
Показать описание
Raised beds are a big investment when it comes to setting up your kitchen garden.
Over the years, I’ve seen so many raised beds that could’ve been easily improved to last longer, grow better, and be a better use of my clients’ money.
The height of the bed will determine which plants will grow best, and also determines the ease you feel while tending it, which may be the most important: we want you to love taking care of your garden, and the height will really determine how comfortable you feel in it.
After the height , the width is important too. I found that if a bed is not at least 2 feet wide, it’s really not worth the investment of materials and space.
And if the bed is wider than 4 feet, it’s very difficult to tend and you end up losing the growing space in the center of your beds.
Finally, building Raised beds with really thin material especially some thing like fence boards, definitely helps you save money, but those beds are going to need lots of internal support, and will likely bow once filled with soil, and also degrade much faster than thicker wood.
What mistakes would you add to this list?
