Don't you just love how they make up references to movies that didn't come out yet by the time the movie they're talking about did?

While we’re talking about Marvel references, Hiccup’s prototype shield in the HTTYD TV series is possibly a reference to Captain America’s shield. Both are made from special metals that make them stronger and lighter in combat, Gronkle Iron and Vibranium respectively, and can act as a boomerang.

Also, Hiccup’s fire-sword, Inferno, is very similar to the lightsabers from Star Wars.

I bet the new DreamWorks movie "Puss In Boots: The Last Wish" is a prequel to the Shrek series, since one (or should I say FOUR) of the bad guys are Goldilocks and the Three Bears and, like you said, Lord Farquhar made Mama Bear into a bear rug.
