These Calder race debates might end some relationships y'all... Let me know down below, is Lane Hutson YOUR Calder favorite? If not, who do YOU think deserves it? Celebrini? Wolf? Michkov? #GravGang #RoadTo85kSUBS

Just imagine how lethal was Boston University with Hutson AND Celebrini last year. And there's another Hutson in the pipeline.

Dude that Pokémon starter comparison is spot on. All three franchises have real difference makers. And all of them at completely different positions and that’s why this race is so fun to watch. Really is just what you eyeball as more valuable for their respective teams. All three of them just seem to be perfect fits where they are. I know he’s more of the dark horse but Wolf has really impressed me considering goalies rarely thrive before their late 20’s. I’d bet he’ll have a few vezina’s under his belt one day it’ll be fun to watch how his playoff run looks if they make it.

I agree! I don’t understand how people don’t think that lane Hutson would win the Calder, he’s been basically the teams #1 defence man, he’s also 10 top in scoring leaders for d men and has more points them seider and makar in his rookie year! Not to mention he’s also been actually not terrible on defence

Both Montreal and Calgary are possible playoff teams, but definitely not locks for the playoffs. Whether or not their team makes the playoff will have a huge effect on the Calder race.

With 12 games still to go, Hutson currently sits at 4th Best All Time among NHL Rookie defensemen in assist and needs only 6 in 12 to have the second best all time season. And as for points, he sits at 13th, and needs only 7 in 12 to wedge himself between lindstrom and chelios with the 7th best rookie season all time; which is almost a given. And if he can maintain his near point per game pace since the 4 nations, he will likely surpass Ray Bourque and become the 5th best all time in points and surpass Larry Murphy with the best assist campaign ever in the NHL. How is this even a debate?

Hutson is on pace for one the best rookie season ever by a defenseman, while being in the top for points this year for dmen. As much as I love Celebrini, his season is far from being as impressive and historic as Hutson’s season is.

As a flyers fan this was always going to be Hutson for me. It would have taken Michkov or celebrini getting 80+ point seasons in my opinion for either to have beaten him. He’s actually not a horrible defenseman on defense and it a powerplay qb. Dustin wolf would never have gotten it in my opinion bc he’s a goalie sucks but just the way it is

I would say Macklin is bringing more attention to the sport on and off the ice . Amazing person and will carry the sport to another level in the future. I started watching hockey again after 10 years away, because of him .

He really is fun to watch. Hutson is a brilliant passer of the puck. He reminds me of the great Italian soccer player Pirlo who was “peerless” as a passer. Cheers from Ottawa 🍁

Hutson is just an all star. If that continue he will retired as a Montréal legend

Hope he keeps up the production this year and then, next year and onwards: gets some serious new passing options with demidov etc

100% hutson. 8th best Dman in his first year

I agree. It is more difficult to come into the NHL or any top professional league and play goal of defence than it is to play forward.

Great Calder race and I love all three of these rookies. But Celebrini wins it for me because he’s only 18 yet already the best player on his team, he’s competitive and plays the game the right way, he’s very sound defensively, great at faceoffs, amazing playmaker, and he can generate his own offense. Scoring goals is still the hardest thing to do in this league so don’t discount those 20+ goals Celebrini has while being on the worst team in the league. Oh and he also had the most points on the sharks while missing 12 games to start the season. But yeah any three of these guys could win it, I just think Celebrini is the whole package of what you want in a hockey player.

I think Hutson's play this past week has pretty much guaranteed him the Calder. He has a legit chance at hitting 70 points. If he does that there is no way he loses out as best overall rookie. .

Can we stop pretending that Celebrini had/has no teammates ? Toffoli, Backlund, Eklund, Smith, Zetterlund and Walman were/are not passengers at all.

Sucks that the Sharks ended up trading half of them, but thats the joy of being in a rebuild.
