———————————————————

With Ciceroni we seek to be a guide to European culture and history. We make videos on little known subjects as well as more ubiquitous ones, ranging from current affairs like the European Union, to historic events like the Tulip Mania, and even mythological stories like those of the Greek Gods. In all these videos we strive to present the subjects in a objective manner and within their complex context.

It is a fair argument that the EU has some democratic flaws. As a Brit I campaigned to remain in the EU. I would have been less resistant to the suggestion of leaving if our own democracy was strong.
However in the UK we have a First Past the Post electoral system that straight up ignores a huge part of the electorate and a totally unelected second chamber with hereditary peers. It feels pretty ironic to suggest we should have left the reasonably democratic EU in order to give more power to our flailing democracy.
I talked about this in the 2nd and 3rd videos on my channel.

Thanks for covering this topic. I am hyped about the rise of Volt, Diem and the Pirates in the Greek, Dutch and Czech elections respectively.

Out of curiosity, do Czechs prefer to call their country "Czechia" over "Czech Republic" or does it not really matter?

EU needs to go, making it stronger is the opposite of what we need.
