Writing a memorable song isn't easy. Not only do you have to write a good tune, you also need to match it to the lyrics. We'll be discussing the art of songwriting and, of course, we'll be learning some new vocabulary as well.

earworm
(informal) a song that you keep hearing in your head, to the point of irritation

nostalgic streak
affectionate and slightly sad feeling you have for a happy time in the past

tastemaker
person who influences what is currently popular or fashionable

(go on a) bender
keep drinking a lot of alcohol for an extended period of time

chord structure
sequence of musical chords

give and take
compromise in which you are willing to accept suggestions from another person and give up some ideas of your own

🎉 Vocabulary in this video “songwriting”🎉
1. Mattered: a subject or situation that you have to think about or deal with
*register: matter is used especially in formal or official contexts. In everyday english, people usually use subject, or just say it:
I’ve talked to him about the matter. → i’ve talked to him about it.
2. Affectionate = loving: showing in a gentle way that you love someone and care about them
-> jo is very affectionate towards her.
3. Go back to doing st : to start doing something again after you have stopped for a period of time
-> she went back to watching tv.
4. Earworm: (informal) a song that you keep hearing in your head, to the point of irritation
5. Nostalgic streak: affectionate and slightly sad feeling you have for a happy time in the past
6. Tastemaker: person who influences what is currently popular or fashionable
7. (Go on a) bender: keep drinking a lot of alcohol for an extended period of time
8. Chord structure: sequence of musical chords
9. Give and take: compromise in which you are willing to accept suggestions from another person and give up some ideas of your own

Good topic. There are many songwriters that wrote popular songs all over the world. I like listening to Kpop groups. They are awesome i think. There are many fans of BTS. Yes, so am i. My favorite songwriter is Suga the member of BTS. He wrote songs with beautiful and meaningful lyrics. He wrote about his past, troubles, opinions and his thoughts about something. He writes songs and also he is a rapper of the group. Thanks BBC a lot
