In 2020, Chinese scientists announced that their quantum computer had beat a record for solving a complex problem.

Quantum computing is a type of computing that allows powerful machines to perform calculations that are too complex for ordinary devices. The concept was discovered in 1980 by American physicist Richard Feynman and has two major military applications: decrypting encoded messages and sending cryptographic keys to intercept otherwise secure communication chains.

In 2019, Google announced that its 53-qubit Sycamore processor had completed a task that would have taken a conventional supercomputer at least 2.5 days in 3.3 minutes. China's 66-qubit Zuchongzhi 2 quantum processor reportedly completed the same task 1 million times faster in October. That processor was created by a team of researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Center for Excellence in Quantum Information and Quantum Physics collaborated with the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics and the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology.

Traditional supercomputers, such as those used by the United States military and the Chinese Military, are used to run complex simulations for equipment design, process images and signals to identify targets and points of interest, and analyze massive amounts of data to uncover hidden trends and connections. However, some tasks continue to be time and resource-intensive, as even the smallest computing bits require time to flip between 1 and 0.

China took the lead 15 years ago in STEM. China has already leveraged it's edge in development of it's super economy. The US Continues to invest in dated military incentives, based on MIC lobbies.

So all our crypto currency can be stolen since our keys can now be hacked?

Ok, this turned out to be interesting. Two points of interest:
1: The issue about the time it take for conventional computer bits to change from one state to the other state.
Finally I see the possible relevance of the qubit: that this time limitation may be absent.
2: The light based system, I would imagine, does not require any low temperature issues. That would be a big deal, but I found the narrative did not quite make that clear.

WE ARE DONE!!!
As former DOD AI Czar Nicolas Chaillan lamented after his resignation last year, “We have no competing fighting chance against China in 15 to 20 years. Right now, it’s already a done deal; it is already over in my opinion, ”

Good video. I wonder how long it will be till we see quantum computers piggy-backed on Elon Musks Starlink satellites?

What would happen if you asked this computer to run a scenario where you beat your enemy.
