Wow. This performance really showcases what a tight, groovin' unit these guys were. The vocals, the vibe, the excitement - all just beautiful. Pretty cool to hear Lennon on organ, and how well his time feel & chord voice leading meld with George's in-the-pocket rhythm work on his Rickenbacker 12-string. Ringo's drumming is superlative here - totally swinging, rocking, and danceable. The infusion of some Latin feel in the chorus section is classic Ringo, and it propels the whole arrangement. His sparse use of fills get more intense as the tune progresses, and the fill going into the final verse is all at once masterful, subtle, powerful, perfectly centered in the groove - and with that unmistakable signature Ringo vibe. McCartney's lead vocal is him at his youthful prime, and John & George nail the background vocals with chill intensity. The tune itself is classic early Beatles cutting edge cool pop. A perfect example of Lennon & McCartney's enormous talent for creating melodies that were unique yet simple, and always toe-tapping and hummable. These guys were oozing with confidence and intention. What a killin' little band. I like this even better than the original single mix. So cool.
