NEW ChatGPT Plugins & Web Browsing - Hands On

ChatGPT plugins and browsing feature are new beta features that allow ChatGPT Plus users to interact with third-party APIs and the web using the GPT-4 model. The browsing feature allows ChatGPT to search the web for resources, cross-check information, reference specific data, and give up-to-date information. To enable these features, you need to go to your Settings in the bottom left-hand corner of the ChatGPT screen, select Beta features, and toggle Web browsing and Plugins. You also need to select the Plugins model under GPT-4 when you start a chat.

My guess is that the clicks fail due to majority of website use AWS or CloudFlare and these have pretty hefty anti bot and DDoS protection systems in place.

Very interesting but Wolfram Alpha made some serious mistakes at 14:19 about chickens. It confused meters with kilometers first and then did something wrong again getting huge number comparing to the Milky Way.

Many websites have Captcha when detecting unusual traffic, it can't solve the captcha yet so it fails I guess, or the website just detected a robot and blocked it.

After watching this video, I renewed my GPT plus subscription again and sure enough I got access to both the beta toggles, some plugins are actually useful but biggest downside is GPT-4 still allows only 25 questions and GPT 3.5 turbo is freely available for all including non plus users, this is worst tactic from openai

I got the pdf ones working and its actually extremely useful. You should do a video talking with awesome arxiv papers like RAFT, Cooperation is all you need, deepfloyd IF or GPT4+Palm2 technical reports! Love your vids, can tell you were a bit tired for this one though. Hang in there 😁

To resolve the issue with the "web or plugin bug" (at 1:55), you can try the following workaround: Click on the buttons multiple times, and then you should be able to select both. This solution worked for me, and hopefully, it will work for you as well.

I got access to the browsing mode about 3 hours ago, I'm in the UK. No other plugins yet. I noticed browsing works quite well, but it runs into problems about 30% of the time. Still, good to see some actual rollout from the company after about a month of silence.

BTW, a useful prompt I came up with to have GPT-4 demonstrate how to use the plugins together is to prompt something like this.
"Can you create an example of how I might use all the enabled plugins together to perform a useful task or to create a useful result?"

Just a FYI: The plugins and browser do not work if you disable Chat history & training. As of now (18-May-2023), these functions only operate on chats that will be shared and utilized by OpenAI.
If you're using this for professional work, be cautious not to test it with personal, medical or company-sensitive data.
This is because this content will be used for training and could potentially be used to answer other people's queries.

I asked it about my artist handle and it did quite a good job to find my full name and even made a quote of what I like to say (in combination with my art). Since my website is down in the moment, until I finally wrote a new one, it can only find these infos on Twitter, I guess... I at least was impressed and now I feel a little more like an artist, when the AI finally recognizes me. Oh, very fun was, when I told GPT, that it was me, he was searching infos about. It from then on used my name to adress me and even made a remark about me and my Multiple Sclerosis. I guess this is the worst it'll ever be and so I am hyped.

I gotta say, it's both exciting and a bit disappointing. The browsing function seems to be a work in progress with some failed clicks, but hey, it's in beta, so it's understandable. On the bright side, the plugins store looks super promising! There are tons of options and I can't wait to see how it evolves and what new plugins they'll add! Also keen to make my own plugin

A lot of websites have security settings to block bots and VPNs from accessing their websites. I'd imagine they're blocking ChatGPT for similar reasons
