Welcome back. This is why I started watching Laura Kamph, this stuff and style. I love the house but I was missing the free thinking maker. Love your stuff.

I like the project, but I like it even more that you are starting a new chapter where there is space for building sculptures like this. We have often talked about what art is. Now we will find out and get to know a whole new side of you! ☺️

Love the idea of the tumbleweed being the shadow opposite of a reflective disco ball. Very cool.

I'm glad we got the shot of the ceiling with the shadows from the tumbleweed.

What an ingenious idea! Inspiration comes from many things that are ordinary. Great sculpture. Thank you.

Beautiful piece of art! I’d suggest a led bulb because the tumbleweed is very flammable and spreads fire often where they are located. Absolutely great idea.

Thank you! I was missing your maker videos so much, with calligraphed notes on pink tape, nice music, and these wonderful little ideas. Laura is back!

Really love this. The mix of materials. Soft and hard. Rough and refined. Movement. Light. Wonderful.

In film, the tumbleweed is such a classic representation of a ghost town. No inhabitants, abandoned, extinct - all activity has ended. This is fertile ground for beginning anew, like a phoenix rising out of the ashes. I like this first sculpture very much. :)

Fun fact, "tumble weeds" are Russian thistles, and despite (and ironically) being now seen as the quintessential signifier of American westerns outside the coyboy himself, they didn't exist in America until well after the genre started, as they're an invasive species. A bit apropos too now.

This sculptural direction is so so good. IMO you've always made sculptures since the old videos but just embracing the sculptural elements of the work is beautiful.

I respect you don't allow your ideas to be limited by skillset; I think many people do the opposite.
Thinking about the skill aspect of a project or idea only after it is ready for execution can make learning a new skill feel less like an obstruction.

YES YES THIS IS IT. YOUR CALLING. MORE OF THIS LAURA! Love everything you make but have been thinking, just wait until she gets fully settled. YOU are making such BEAUTY. Can we see the light throw shadow on a wall? Some glam shots for each project would be an amazing compilation video for the exhibition for those who can't make it.

Again, watch every one of your videos and rooting for the beauty you create!

I love “shadows”, so I love it! I look forward to sunset each day streaming through my dogwood pattern lace curtains, creating “wallpaper” on my wall! It’s remarkable how many variations occur. That’s the magic of shadows! 😁😁😁

I’m 83. When I was 5, we lived in our first house, in Billings, Montana. Tumbleweeds were great fun for us; there were a lot of them, and we chased them as they tumbled past. We built forts out of them.

I think it would be really cool to have video incorporated into your exhibition when the time comes. It’ll be fab to see the finished pieces but the process is so impactful too it would be great to see both together

I think the tumbleweed ball may be a response to all the rushing you've done in the last few years. As you said, a disco ball is excitement, but your tumbleweed ball is the removal of that. It's calm, non-specific clouds on the ceiling to let your thoughts drift as they want to. It's a wonderful way to reconnect more with your creativity. It's beautiful.

Wow! That find was a gift to you. The fact that you recognized it and rescued it is half the battle. Keep the faith, you will "find" the peace you seek on the road.

It's funny seeing people excited about tumbleweeds. As a child I remember spending many hours cleaning up thousands of them from our land. Nuisance. But now I live in a wetlands environment where tumbleweeds would be a foreign wonder, so I appreciate the excitement over them now!
