I mean the genie actually did him a pretty big solid by taking the wish literally. He wished to have any woman he wanted and that his family would be the wealthiest in the kingdom; if he had switched lives with the king, the king would inherit his family's wealth and be able to get all the women. This is exactly why if I ever stumble into a wishing scenario, I am going to consult multiple lawyers to draw up a wish in contract form.
