While I find that the ESV Study Bible can be a bit wordy in its annotations, this one errs a bit too far in the other direction. The ESV Student Study Bible (or the ESV Global Study Bible, which has the same set of annotations) seems to find the best balance.

Hi LOVE your channel and all the reviews you do. I’m hoping that you can help me. I’m looking for advice for a ‘later-in-life’ Bible. Meaning, I just turned 60…so…there are some ‘needs’ that I anticipate having for the rest of my life now. In a nutshell, the PRIMARY USE will be devotional reading, and light study. MAIN CONCERNS = font size 8-10? As in, very likely nothing less than 8pt., but anything over 10 likely would be overkill. Size….something smaller than a cement block would be nice. Also, clarity of meaning is very important., So, using Micah as a benchmark, it’s difficult. NIV and NLT do not do well with Micah 1:3, as surely the idea is ‘high places, ’ …aka idol worship cultic areas….not just higher elevations in general. However, the ESV and NASB are horrible in chp 2:6-7. I wasn’t sure what was going on in those verses UNTIL I read them in the NIV & NLT. Last, I don’t need a bajillion study notes, but textual helps here/there when appropriate would be nice. What would you recommend?? THOUGHTS????

Great vid, thanks. Does it give the dates of writing in the introduction to the books, etc?

In the Old Testament God name Jehovah and many prophets ( Isaiah, Jeremiah, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Zephaniah, and Zechariah) name end in “ah.” What does “ah” mean in Hebrew?

The ESV from accordance bible software is free version of this study bible I believe and enjoyed. This bible changed 1 of my view because of the notes from Genesis 1:26 the Hebrew word for man is (Adam) is the generic term for mankind and becomes the proper name Adam, but no translation follows this, its not teaching but my view on this ADAM and MAN. Then so ADAM should be used until Genesis 2:23 where “iyish” is applied and used as MAN and where we get “Ishshah, nashiym”, because the woman was taken from 1 of Adam side. Which i feel more of a connection with my wife instead of a mere HUMAN RIB and why the woman is flesh of his flesh and bones of his bones because she literally came out of his side. I wonder if Hollywood got it right when i watch the “5th element” scene with the hand that is only needed to replicate the whole body and flesh blood and skin is the last step to create LULU in the movie LOL.
