Brasilian here: Saci travels in air swirls, and they come from bamboo shoots. A Saci can also be trapped in the inside of a bottle, you need to throw a strainer inside of his air swirl, once it has caught him you must take his cap off (which strips him of his supernatural powers) and then you can put him inside of a bottle. Also, in most of the stories, stealing the cap doesn't have him grant you a wish, he just becomes your servant until he can either get his cap back or you give it to him.

I LOVED IT!
Im brazilian and when I was a child I always listen to these stories and folklore, Saci is one of my favorites.

There is another thing about him though.
Saci, besides the teleport, is extremly fast and can control wind to some extend, so he hoovers around in a kind of mini-tornado. If you are able to trow a net or a peneira (I googled it but have no ideia wich would be more accurate to describe it, I think you guys call it "strainer") at him while he has the tornado on, he will be restrained.

After that, you are able to lock him in a glass bottle, kind like a Genie. After that he can grant wishes to you, but the thing is: being locked up is the only thing that truly pisses him off. Eventually he will escape no matter where you lock him, and when he does, oh boy, wait for his revenge.

I’m Brazilian and I confirm that, Saci cannot teleport, actually he is so fast with one leg that he can turn his leg into some sort of whirlwind, but it looks like he teleports.

Like saci grants wishes and can turn into a tornado, it's pretty similar to djinns

I love this! Saci is one of the many popular mythological creatures in Brazil and all of them have an interesting story behind it, like Curupira (a protector of the florest, with the feet turned backwards to deceive hunters), the mermaid Yara (a native who used to be the strongest fighter), Norato & Maria Caninana (giant snake siblings, which one loved and the other hated humanity), Boitatá (a giant snake on fire that protects the florest against deforestation).

There are also same creepy ones like the Witch Cuca (a witch with the theeth or the head of a crocodile, that eats children who go to sleep late), Pisadeira (a sleep paralysis creator that feeds from your fear), Corpo-seco (a terrible man that when he died was denied on heaven, hell and by the soil with discuss), Mula-sem-cabeça (a woman who seduced or fell in love with a priest and becomed a horse with fire instead of her head) and Papá-figo (he also eats children but only their liver and then he leaves the corpses full of money for the funeral).
