An Aussie journalist was once asked, “Why does the Aussie cricket team win so much and Indian team lose so much?” He replied, “In India when the son returns home from playing cricket with friends his parents ask him ‘How many runs did YOU score?’ In Australia the parents ask the son, ‘Did your team win?’” And that is the greatest difference.

By far the best and objective analysis and 100% right. This is journalism. Very unbiased and no prejudice.

Slow two paced wicket on one end and exclusion of Aswin on other end. Just check last 20matches of Travis Head and how he got exposed to Right Arm off spinners.

Same was expected in Test Championship in Oval. We didn't studied. There also Head 156 did turned the match. When it comes to bigger championships there needs to have that big heart to move Strategically rather than playing to emotions.
Management played emotions with pitch. Team played emotions with same strategy.

It's simply Not our Day. That's it.
Every Host country would prefer to have a pitch that's advantageous to the home side. So, that's Not a Big Crime as has been projected. After all, the same pitch was being played in by both the teams. Rohit's catch by Travis Head made the Difference. Virat & Rahul were absolutely sensible in their approach for building up a huge partnership slowly & cautiously as we had the luxury of Better Run Rate at that time to slow down and steady the Innings. Certainly they were on the course to build a Big Partnership. But, Virat's Played-on Dismissal was most Unfortunate & Untimely. Still, Jadeja & Rahul were shaping well when the score was reading at 178/4. It's Jadeja's dismissal and again Rahul's in quick intervals that denied India a favourable condition to post a Big Total. Otherwise, India could have posted a decent Total of at least 280 as we had a well settled Rahul and experienced Jadeja at that point of time. Unfortunately, Jadeja's batting performance was not upto the mark in this tournament as he was not visibly in a commanding form with the Bat. Having said all these things at 47/3 with Warner, Marsh & Smith back in the Pavilion, still Aussies were under pressure. But, our bowlers failed to sustain pressure further. An experienced Ashwin could have made a difference at that point of time had he been in. It's ridiculous on the part of BCCI to have selected Ashwin if he was not at all in their reckoning. Having selected him and played him in the very First match against the Aussies where he performed reasonably well, the Team Management should have made Ashwin play at least against Netherlands (as we had already got a berth for the Semi Finals) to enable him sustain his touch & Hands-on Match Experience and again he should have been in the Team in the Finals, probably in the place of Suryakumar Yadav since that slot was redundant as he had a limited role & opportunity only till Semis and Ashwin was capable enough to take up that limited role in batting. Any way, I again recall my Opening sentence, it was Not our Day. It was Travis Head's Day with his bat and with a fantastic Crucial catch to dismiss Rohit who in a rush of blood needlessly adventured against Maxwell after having hit him already a 4 and a 6. He could have kept cool and just restrained himself at that point of time. That's it . Opening Match against the same Aussies was our Day. Despite having lost 3 Top order Batsman @ 3 down for 2, we still managed to sail through on that day as Virat was lucky enough to have been dropped at 12. In the Finals, Aussies managed to overpower from a precarious situation of 47/3.

Remember Failure are the Greatest Pillars of Success. Not Winning Matches. The Australian Captain Capitalized On This Aspect.

Beautifully analysed Rajdeep. Accept all the points except No 2 and the law of averages. LOA are for average teams. The Aussies of 2003 and 2007 never dropped a match and won the titles. India panicked... When Bumrah got hit for 15 in the first over, Siraj who was always the opening bowler made way to Shami; who can be deadly with the old ball. Siraj was not able to find any breakthrough with the older ball. From then on; the pressure was on.
Cummins and Rabada are excellent; but always come first change. They can use the old ball well and so is Shami...
Thanks for the video and hope the BCCI will look into all aspects without any witchhunt. We are a fantastic team and we will rise and win again.

Australia is just on another level when it comes to big matches.

India got too cocky and thought they already won the World Cup before even playing the Finals. Big lesson to learn for next time ;)

This is disheartening to know the Indians didn't cheer/appreciate Travis Head's century. Where is their sportsman spirit. It's a game, not a war.

Mere hisab se do mistake hua he final mai.
1. Jadega ko batting mai surya se agey bhejna. Surya is a proper batsman usko jadega se aage batting mai aana chahiye tha
2. Siraj ko first 10 over mai bowling nahi dena swing ho raha tha usko bowling kyun nahi diya

Shame on Ahmedabad crowd and BCCI. Barely seemed like a world event for global audience. BCCI should know that with power comes tremendous responsibility.

Congratulation on Australia winning. Right from the beginning of the tournament I always felt the three Aussie fast bowlers were far better than rest of the teams. India were 100 runs short on that pitch. Loosing the toss, batting first and none of the batsmen scoring big and poor batting performance from 4 of the 6 batsmen was the real reason for the defeat. There was nothing the Indian bowlers could do with such a low score of 240. With that score they would have lost to England, South Africa, Newzealand, Pakistan and Srilanka. The competitive score on that pitch was above 340. Millions of Indians got disappointed. The promising aspect is with so much talent emerging through IPL, India will always be one of top 3 performing nations for the rest of the future.

India lost due to sheer arrogance, superiority complex over others and overconfidence- that’s it!
Your analysis is correct & informative!

As an Aussie, I must say that this is an honest assessment of what actually occurred. It was obvious that everyone including many Aussies thought that we had little chance because this was India, the Indian cricket team was riding high, and the conditions were better suited to the home nation. However, nothing is certain in sport and that is why it is called a sport. We around the world can feel India's pain. We sports lovers have all been through it. However, at the end of the day, it is only just a game. Years ago, we shook our opponent's hand before and at the end of a game. Today, it is all about money and sportsmanship has gone out the window! The Indian fans who left the stadium before the presentation acted like spoilt children who went home to cry to their mothers. In life, we must accept that we will not always win! How we deal with defeat and get up off the floor builds character or it betrays lack of such.
I'm an Englishman who has lived in Australia for more than 50 years. I have come to love this country and the Australian spirit which is to never give up no matter what the odds. Further, they will always help the underdog because it is in their nature. It is indeed the greatest country in the world to live in and I call myself an Aussie these days. Democracy is not an idle word to be used lightly in Australia. It is a fact. Australia is truly the land of the free and its sporting prowess is second to none. New Zealand which lies across from us is much the same. We may be small in numbers but we always punch above our weight!
