I am a 46 y/o amateur accordion player. My mother took up accordion for a couple years in the early 1960s, and when my folks moved to the city/state where I was born (in the 1970s), my mother brought her accordion along, but hadn't played it much, or at all after I was born, and in the early 2000s, when I would visit my parents, I would occasionally try to play some Frankie Yankovic tunes by ear, as I played piano, bass and some guitar by ear most of my life, but it wasn't until a few years ago that I asked my mother if I could have her old accordion, which had been collecting dust in basement storage room for decades, and she said I could have it! So, by ear, I try to play various songs. By NO MEANS am I any type of highly skilled accordion player, like yourself, but for an "old dog" with absolutely no accordion lessons, I'd say that for a self-taught amateur I'm not too bad. I still have quite a ways to go. The piano keys are absolutely no problem, and I am slowly picking up the "chord key side." I am gradually remembering the patterns, but unlike guitar, bass guitar and piano, I can't exactly LOOK at the patterns, but slowly, I am learning how to feel them out. I may look into taking some lessons as I truly love playing the accordion. I just want to do the best that I can do, and if I can excell at accordion half as well as I did with the bass guitar, I would be very pleased.
Videos like yours inspire me to want to do the very best thay I can. When I know that I'm doing and trying my best, I know that I have accomplished something, even if I am not *the* best, I'm just happy to give it "my all, " if that makes sense?
Kudos to you, young man. You are definitely a talented player of the 'ol "squeeze box, " and I am greatful to have come across your content. Keep up the stellar accordion playing. You, sir, are a talented musician, and I wish you all of the best.
