Okay so I fell asleep with this playing on repeat, over and over again. I dreamed it had something to do with England, and the fertility of the British.

This makes a lot of sense though. As the queen leaves with an outgoing swarm, the remaining bees are then free to take over

Bumblebees are just so cute! I love seeing them in the warmer months!

The Queen is never supposed to.leave the nest, so when they cant smell or see the queen in the nest it makes them.believe they need a new queen

Seeing is BEE-lieving! <finger guns>

Do they have object permanence?

To clarify, that's the ability to know that just because something isn't directly perceived it doesn't disappear.

E.g., newborn human babies don't have this ability, so when something stops being in sight it actually drops out of existence for them. Which is why the "peekaboo!" can get a reaction out of them.

Bees are really interesting. The more you learn of their social and reproductive structures, the more you realize that bees aren’t the individual insects you see flying around… but instead are the hive as a whole. All bees to a hive are just components to a much larger entity

You always have such interesting stuff

That doesn’t rule out whether it was sight or pheromones that caused the worker bees to prepare for fertilization. Maybe if the queen bee was kept in the hive but out of sight from the worker bees ..

Huh, that explains a lot about bees, wasps and ants, very interesting.

I found this excitingly informational! Keep them coming!

Well yeah, that makes sense. Some types of pheromones can linger for days, so just being able to pick up the scent doesn't necessarily mean the queen is still alive and well. Since they need a new queen immediately if she dies, it makes perfect sense that the workers would prepare immediately.

More bee content! Especially on solitary bees. Mason and leaf cutter are getting too much attention

Idk why, but Hank really seems to be happy about this information.

It makes sense. That way the bees inherently know that if the queen is missing for whatever reason then they need to keep the hive alive

I knew it. I just knew I should have invested in that company that was producing bee blindfolds.

The title is a Wheel of Fortune before and after and I'm into it.
