Both my neighbors drive current model Dodge Ram Pickup Trucks. Both are tradies, what a surprise? They are practical for them. If you compared a similar size dual cab truck, ie a proper small truck from Isuzu, or Hino ect, to a dual cab pickup truck, the pickup trucks are a lot more comfortable, for just a start.

In the US: Sedans replaced by small SUV's; Small SUV's replaced by bigger ones in Soccer Mom category (still some small vans too, ). Late 20's to mid 40's guys: 4 door pickup (gotta take the kids (when it's your weekend to have them) to various sports activities), Mid 40's plus (male, female, couples: Luxury sedans. Teens to 20's: Whatever noisy car (pseudo JDM preferred) they can talk the bank or their parents to loan them money for☺
