This Incredible Woman Built Herself A Tiny House In Lockdown!

In this weeks episode we meet Bérangère, an inspiring young woman who amazingly built her very own tiny house during lockdown in France. Her spectacular home is named ‘La Belle Idée, which translates to the beautiful idea.

Bérangère was inspired to build her tiny home after spending four years traveling and realising she desired a place to call home. With minimal possessions and still wanting a place which would give her options for where she could live, she decided a tiny house would be the perfect home.

Originally, she had intended to construct her home together with others as part of a tiny house building workshop, but lockdown in France put an end to the workshop after the first week and Bérangère was then left to complete the home on her own.

The result is a beautiful and inspiring build. We hope you enjoy the video tour of this wonderful tiny house which absolutely lives up to it’s name!

Hey team! We really hope you enjoy this weeks video as we're trying out a bit of a different format. As we are STILL unable to travel outside of New Zealand, we are trying to work with some overseas videographers to help us continue to tell stories from around the world. The idea is that episodes like this one will be mixed in amongst our regular tours. Please let us know your thoughts and if you're happy to see more videos like this one! With love, Bryce & Rasa

This so cool. She wanted a tiny home, didn’t know anything about construction, learned, and now she has her own home that she built herself. So awesome.

"I learned that I am a powerful woman." A lesson every girl needs to learn, growing up. And every woman, now. She is an inspiration.

Watching her talk about her accomplishment in building her own tiny home made me smile so big for her! She did an amazing job and she definitely put her heart into her home! ❤️❤️❤️

She knows herself so well and what's most important in life. Love it when she said, "I'm not really a fancy person - but wanted a house like me"–" When I brush me teeth, I want to see nature outside".

I enjoy the fact she embraced gifts from her grandma. I think the jars, chairs and door really makes her home special. May all these special gifts keep you happy for many years to come.

I like Bryce's interview/tours very much, but this one with the solo approach is sweet too--and actually well-suited to a story about one woman's solo-built home. Pretty place and very nice episode all round.

The new format worked out very well for this video (although we miss Bryce and Rasa!). It's refreshing to see a tiny house that didn't go overboard on high-end appliances and finishes. The stove looks like it could burn wood or coal, and is a work of art. I love the permanent table and chairs for dining/desk. Berangere is wonderful, and her house is perfect.

She is so inspiring and grounded and her personality is clearly reflected throughout the design and decor of her beautiful house.

Her humbleness and modesty, which are also reflected in the house, are truly inspiring.

I have nothing against the more luxurious, sleek tiny houses, but I think that this type of tiny house is the most connected with the principles of tiny houses - simple, functional and full of love. I'm in love with this house and its owner!

I love that she said she didn’t think she could build a house by herself until she was almost forced(by covid) to do it. Great job!

I absolutely love her tiny house and all the details! I love the fact that she is so simple, she even has a Berkey! I am so glad to see that the French have been catching on with the Tiny House movement! As a slightly older French woman myself, I totally agree with Berangere! As women we can do everything! We were created to work in harmony and to love people and life to the fullest! Well done 👍 everyone! 🙏🥰🙏

As a woman, I do admit this gives me encouragement to have confidence to build my own tiny house. I would need to start looking in workshops and would have to look for land to get permission. The cost of living houses and flats in the UK has increased dramatically.

Got a little teary-eyed over the chairs lol beautiful history. I lost both of my grandparents over the last year and thats just such a lovely way to honor them.
I loved seeing her completely change after cracking the joke about the door, like how "I liked how it looked... and also it was 3 days of sanding at that point" and her big hearty laughing. What a great spirit
