Taiju Ooki, a high school student, is finally ready to confess his love for Yuzuriha Ogawa after five years of unspoken feelings.
A blinding green light strikes the Earth, petrifying mankind all over the world and turning every single human into stone, just as Taiju begins his confession.
Several millennia later, Taiju awakens to discover that the modern world has vanished, as nature has flourished during the time when humanity was at a standstill.
Taiju comes across one other living human among the stone world of statues: his science-loving friend Senkuu, who has been active for a few months.
Taiju discovers that Senkuu has devised a grand plan to use science to kickstart the complete revival of civilization. Taiju's strength and Senkuu's intellect combine to form a formidable team, and they soon discover a way to resurrect the petrified.
Senkuu's master plan, on the other hand, is jeopardized when his ideologies are challenged by those who awaken. Meanwhile, the cause of humanity's petrification is unknown.
