Citing the rape and murder of a 27-year-old veterinarian in Hyderabad and the killing of the accused in police encounter, former Chief Justice of India R M Lodha on Tuesday said the country is struggling to protect human rights of citizens and such crimes reflect the "deep malice" that has crept in the society. "Are we heading towards a society of lawlessness," Justice (retd) Lodha said, while lamenting that criminals are not afraid of committing heinous crimes such as rape and murder and "sadder" is the killing of the four accused in the police 'encounter'. The former CJI was speaking at an event in Delhi to mark Human Rights Day.

Why the courts take so much of time to decide ? People are impatient for justice for a reason. It's dangerous but effective at least for this case. Please take ownership of this incident and introspect . Actually judiciary did this encounter through police force .

That is just saying it out loud what I already know. I would have thought someone from within the ranks of CJI would offer, recommend, suggest possible solution options to remedy to what's apparent as the issue with security of women.

It'd be interesting to find out Mr. Lodha's thoughts on
Dogs, taser guns, pocket alarm, going out in groups, self defence training etc.
