Know your Volvos! Volvo introduced front wheel drive in early 90s with the 850. This was well before Ford. Everybody was going transverse FWD, much better than RWD for safer handling and gas mileage. Ford purchased Volvo in 1998, and pretty much made their changes from 1999 model onwards, until 201(4?).
