Excellent and thoughtful review. I love seeing fountain pens used as actual tools for expressing creativity.

The nib on the M2 is the same as the ones on their Black Forest pens. Giving you the options of changing them in medium, fine, and Fude.

I have the M2 in army green and a Koweco Sport Brass both in EF. I love and use my M2 much more and love how wet it is!! I just saw they came out with more colors since I purchased mine so as of tomorrow I’ll have two!! Can’t wait to try the M2 in Liliac/gold in a F nib

I like the design on both pens. I want to get both. I just wish the M1 came with a M nib instead of the F and EF. I do have some M nibs if I do get I’ll probably be switching to the M size nib.

Thanks for posting Marc, as always an informative and helpful video. Btw, I'd love to see a video on paper for pen and ink. You mentioned in this video that you're using Strathmore bristol for the pen test... When would I use bristol over say a drawing, sketching or watercolour paper? Are some pens more suited to smooth over toothy paper? Or is it about the sizing in the paper? Thanks! Looking forward to the upcoming workshop next weekend!

Great review. I think fountain pens have become a sickness for me, especially after getting into vintage pens too. But! Having a variety of pens to cycle through and test out different inks with keeps drawing exciting for me. This seems like a great option to take to the office to sketch with on breaks.

Absolutely fantastic, thank you very much. I don't check any other fountain pen reviews, since I have already too many and mostly your reviews exactly lead me to the right pen If I'm itching to buy one. According to your profound exprience I have to buy M2 now 😁. By the way, some places sell 3 nibs set for Hongdian models, keep that in mind.

Thank you for the Review - very helpful. About the length: Did I hear „Millimeter“? Must be this US Millimeter 😂. Here in Europe and looking at the scale I would rather think of centimeter 😂.

Hey,
Which sketchbook are you using for the Lochby Journal?
Best, G.

I really like my M2’s with the M and bent/fude nibs. I also love my Kaweco Sports for their “air tight” caps for longer shelf life and their F, M, B & BB nibs are nice. Can’t find a fude for Kaweco though.

Hi Marc,
How does this compare to TWSBI Mini? And which Nib would you recommend?

1. The one performance advantage of a Kaweco is availability of a BB nib which is excellent.
2. Though I enjoy pocket pens for the fun of the design, I remain unconvinced that there is any practical usage, storage or transport advantage in a pen that is an inch or two shorter than normal. When metal they do tend to be quite robust, however, which is clearly advantageous.

I use my m2 a lot, I have all the colors. In a set that I use. With a water brush for art .

An excellent review, thank you Marc. I'm an admirer of the original 1930s Sport as an example of outstanding industrial design, but as a converter pen it's an absurdity. Therefore, if someone decides to produce a product of distinct appearance with the same form factor, enhanced ink capacity, includes the converter and clip and fits it with a nib which isn't buffed to the point where it's plagued by skipping - and then rams the point home by selling it for the price of a replacement nib unit, one would hope that Kaweco would take notice. I'm probably in the market for one of these, dammit. 🙂

Why don't they just make a fude version by default?! Why?!

It's a shame, because this would be perfect for art on the fly. Still, it's very good and I'll probably get it haha

Amazing review as always. You offer some of the best reviews hands down.

I keep loyal to my kawecos, cause the black forest i bought came with problems in the feeder, so it takes forever for the ink to flow and railroads way too much.

Good info. Just a suggestion... When filming videos with close ups of hands, you should make sure to cut and clean fingernails ;)
