Im a Civil War re-enactor. We had a fella that would make something called Baau Kraut and sausage. Its Red Cabbage with a whole finely chopped onion, Cider Vinegar, sugar, and salt with some type of game sausage. It was eaten by Officers, it was too expensive for the men, it brought over by German Immigrants serving in the army. I prepare it at home at least once a month, its quite popular

Umm...Civil War was in the 19th century. 18th century would refer to the 1700s.
