Thor (aka Donald Blake) addresses Agent Phil Coulson as 'Son of Coul'

The Nordic naming tradition makes its appearance in the Marvel movie Thor.
And Thor Odinson (Son of Odin, get it?) thinks Agent Coulson is named so because he is the Son of Coul!

And as a lot of people pointed out, Lady Sif does this again in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

What does the Icelandic football team, Father's Day and Thor have in common?

The fact that "Simpson" is a common name means that at some point, "Simp" was a common name in Northwestern Europe.

I am so glad there is a video for this, I just noticed that line for the first time on a re-watch of Thor and laughed for 5 minutes.

I love that in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Lady Sif also addresses him the same way 😂

It's 2020. This film has been out for 8 years and I must have seen it like 10 times, and I only just caught what he said and couldn't stop laughing

At least he didn't call him the same as Surtur

Love how Lady Sif calls him Son of Coul and he even addresses himself as that in Agents of S.H.I.E.LD.

From Thors perspective it makes absolutely sense

Thor is right. That's literally how the naming thing worked in the olden days. Same with Mc in Scottish, or O' in Irish. So Scrooge McDuck is actually Scrooge, son of Duck

Every time Sif called him that in AOS was hilarious.

The only reason I caught this joke was because of subtitles
