Wagner mercenary group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin temporarily seized control of a key military base in the southern part of Russia Saturday. He then headed toward Moscow -- only to turn around after the leader of Belarus brokered a truce between the Russian president and the man sometimes referred to as Putin's chef. CBS News foreign correspondent Ian Lee reports from Ukraine.

It wasn’t a rebellion. It was a special military disagreement. 😆

He should’ve never have stopped. He was a fool to believe someone like Putin would ever let him live after that kind of challenge.

Love how we went from ''Kyiv in 3 days'' to ''Moscow in 24h'' 😂

In the words of Henry Kissinger, "It's a shame both sides can't lose."

This is the equivalent of making a move on the head of the mob and then running to his second in command for protection. Either this entire thing was a charade or a certain individual is going to find himself the victim of a quick fall from a high window.

Prigozhin should have known his boss well. He doesn't forgive anyone. It was one brilliant chicken move from Wagner chief.

If he goes back on the deal, nobody in his government will have any reason to ever trust any agreement he may ever propose in the future.

Seriously, these guys change their minds more than I do my socks.

extremely interesting that Pergozin was treated like a hero even though it appeared he was there to topple to government. If the people are cheering for the government to be toppled, does the government really have the support of the people? Maybe not

Striking a deal with Putin.... Always a great idea! This guy is famous for standing up for his word, right?...RIGHT?

Shows how much you can trust Putin's word, yet another example of why there is no point negotiating with him

However you wish to portray the events, the World witnessed that address by Putin as being from a man that was afraid and in a very weak position. When Putin fled Moscow it was the icing on the cake that confirmed this opinion.

So many people saying Putin was smart to flee are also super smart. I can be an expert too if you give me a couple of days to examine a situation and say what someone is going to do after they do it.
Putin fled because he didnt know if he could survive this. He showed weakness and no confidence in his own security. He proved just how divided russia is.

So if Wagner soldiers are being offered/forced into exile in Belarus, my question is what's to stop Yevgeny from rounding up another few thousand of his boys and going on a march from the west as opposed to the south this time? Presumably they'd have the same lack of resistance
