Hay Tedder

Last week we asked if you were able to identify the name and function of this piece of farm equipment… if you guessed that it was a hay tedder, you were correct!

This machine was used by farmers to run over a field of cut hay. The hay would be fluffed up and piled so it was easily baled and stored.

You should show how the first pictured model works. I have one, but I don't actually use it. It is supposed to be horse drawn, so it's not very fast. But it's very interesting to see one work. Sometimes called a hay kicker because it actually 'kicks' the hay into the air behind the unit.
