I was a pain in the rear end for every person who tried to teach me how to use Linux when I started out. Because I learned the Windows command line dangit! I didn't want to learn a whole new command line.

Got there in the end anyway though

i'm using MX Linux which is Debian based...migrated from Win10 like 3 months ago. Lovin it so far, Win10 became an afterthought xD however I do agree about Linux issue with audio. The one and only issue I encountered in the migration is relating to audio (no sound).

I did got it working..but for common users coming from Windows, they might not have the time nor patience to deal with this. I think the Linux ecosystem needs to put more resources for audio...it stands out like a sore thumb and people will notice right away if the sound is not working.

Other than that, Linux has been working flawlessly for me, I love it!

Just the amount of data needed to setup Linux properly is the one thing that still holds me back from running it on more of my devices.

Data is so expensive where I am and so bummer. 😁

A nice alternative to the ly login manager is lemurs. It's basically a Rust flavored TUI login manager.

i thought linux was not great for audio for the longest time, then i tried ubuntu studio and its a completely different experience when you use a distro designed for it :)

This kind of reminds me of some of the stuff that many distros do for helping you setup stuff so you don't have to do it manually. Garuda certainly comes to mind with their application selection tools such as setting up gaming.

Will you be looking at tools like those for inspiration?

Setup BTRFS and Snapper for rollback .. inotify-tools snap-pac btrfs-grub snapper -gui btrfs-assistant ... is AWAY better then timeshitf ect... it does pre/post snapshots so if they fail you can rollback if it complete destroys your system you can use grub and boot into an older snapshot..
Trilium Notes over Obsidian and it has a local server if you need it...
