👁 About this video : Today it's time to get the dirt bike out and do some wheelies! This is probably a favorite for any rider and something we all love to practice and work on!! I love doing this on the track if I happen to hit a bump or just for fun like today! So in doing a wheelie, there are two important factors. One is the throttle control and the other is balance! In todays video I go over three ways to do a wheelie on a dirt bike. The first way is to dump the clutch as you give the bike a good bit of gas. I would say this is a more advanced maneuver or something to be done on a bike with less power. It can be tricky to know how much gas to give the bike and you could potentially end up flipping off the back. So I would say once you are very comfortable, use this method, or if you need a little extra with a smaller bike, slowly give it more gas as you learn and feel more comfortable!
The second way is a power wheelie where you just give the bike gas quickly and lean back. This can be an easy way to learn because you can focus on balance and how the bike reacts once the front tire leaves the ground. Along with that is giving the bike some gas, letting off, and then really juicing it. If you are going at a faster speed, this can definitely be helpful so you don't have to pop the clutch.
All of these are great ways just depending on how comfortable you are and what works best for you! Doing a wheelie is something fun and a new skill to learn, and it's all apart of riding a dirt bike!

I used to have a 1989 Yamaha TT600, and I could do wheelies with it. I would ride slowly in third gear and then pop the clutch while pulling on the handlebars. The front wheel lifted smoothly and stayed up without any issues. I never used the rear brake because as soon as I eased off the throttle, the front wheel would come back down immediately, so I never worried about flipping over. I felt completely in control and wasn't afraid of falling backward. I would keep the wheelie going until I reached the top speed I was comfortable with in third gear, then I would stop. I tried shifting up a few times during the wheelie, but it never worked well for me.

Recently, I was talking to a friend, and he mentioned that what I was doing was more of a "speed wheelie" rather than a "real" wheelie. He explained that a real wheelie involves reaching the "balance point, " where you need to use the rear brake to maintain control. Since cutting the throttle causes the front wheel to come down immediately, does that mean I'm not at the balance point? What do you think? Thanks.

My crf300l only pop wheelie at stand still. Load clutch, cover both breaks, pop clutch and throttle. Front tire goes up. Anything above 10mph i cannot bring the tires up.

For future reference that wheelie were you give it gas let off and gas it is called a compression wheelie you use the bikes compression to make the wheelie happen also you can do compression wheelies on a 2 stroke you just need to gas it let off and grab the front brake to dip the front end and jump back on the gas.
