The female Ashy or Grey Mining Bee Andrena cineraria is one of the most recognisable members of a large genus of about 70 species inhabiting the UK. This bee appears to have been spreading its range recently and a female is shown feeding avidly on Water Dropwort Oenanthe aquatica, a flower with a considerable attraction to pollinating insects.
