Wasn't the whole point of the supermax contract to help teams(smaller market teams in particular) to retain their home grown talent? Since only the team a player is on the previous season before hitting free agency is the only team that can offer the supermax, it was supposed to help teams keep their stars and prevent things like players joining forces to create super teams and ruining the balance of competition. But these new rules have me scratching my head over what were the players thinking when they agreed to some of these new rules during the last CBA negotiations.

I've always felt that each team only being able to have 1 max/supermax contract player on the team. That would be great for the balance of power and competition across the league as players would all be scrambling to lock up one of those 30 max contracts. They could've even made a stipulation that a team could have 2 max contract players on the roster ONLY if they drafted both players as a reward for developing your own talent. But these new CBA rules are gonna punish teams that draft and develop well and force them to possibly choose between 2 star players like the Celtics will have to most likely.

Crazy thing I’ve ever heard is people thinking players should take pay cuts when it was the owners who made a salary cap. Why not get rid of the salary cap? They won’t cause then players would make to much.

The Celtics need to trade Brown. They have lightly shopped him for a a couple of seasons now, and I thought it was a bad idea, but I see it differently after the series with the Heat. The guy just does not have the killer mentality you need from 1 of your top 2 players. Tatum is lacking in this department as well, but Brown really is. No way should Brown be paid that type of money. The Celtics have had more talent than anyone in the league the last couple of years, with no chip to show for it. Changes need to be made
