Today we are reviewing my personal purchase, yet ANOTHER G-Shock and yet ANOTHER square, what can I say, I have a soft spot for those :)
This time it's the new DWE-5600 or more exactly a DWE-5600CC, which is the first Carbon Core Guard square that also features quick release strap AND bezel!
This variant is inspired by the circuit board of the module 3229 that's powering it and it comes with a set of bezels and straps so you can change the styling easily.
I see it as the next step in the evolution of the traditional simple square, which is the best IMO.

Great design on this one. Would love to buy the box-set as shown. I really like the quick-release and even tougher carbon guard bezel. But untill Casio makes this Multiband 6 and Tough Solar, i'm sticking to my GW6900 for sure 👍.

I only got around to getting my first G-Shock within the past two years, and obviously it had to be the DW-5600E. Because of its size and shape, I don't see myself ever venturing outside of the basic G-Square range. I prefer square or slightly oblong watch bodies, which is why individual versions of my AE1200s get much, much, much more wrist time than all of my AE1000s combined, but anyway... There's one thing I've always (ok, not always, but certainly for the last two years lol) wondered, and that is why there has to be those four tiny, little screws that attach the bezel to the housing. They don't actually do anything, at least not that I can tell. Well, ok... they DO serve to plug those four holes in the housing as well as the other four unsightly holes in the bezel that only exist as a route to get to the four holes in the housing.

Not surprised about the price, the Casio straps with integrated qr bars are expensive (for the 2100) pity it doesn’t have the solar module.

I think that basic square is so light and small, differences between carbon and resin (regarding shock resistance) is minimal. I would say carbon makes more sense in those bigger monocoque design Gs like GWF-A1000 Frogman or GWR-B1000 Gravitymaster etc.

Great rewiev man! One thing I would mention is stifness of that cloth strap. I have small wrist and that thing is pretty unweareble for me.

Love this watch, not so much the price, I own the GW-M5610 which is very similar in style plus is solar powered, to this day it’s the most comfortable watch I own and wouldn’t trade or sell it at all; this watch at $200 I’d probably buy it tomorrow. Great review, and also I’ve been wanting to tell you this, I really like your intro tune, just by listening I know it’s you, very unique 👍

Why, oh why, is Casio refusing to put a sapphire crystal on the G-Shock models?? It’s a no brainer, for a few bucks more I’m sure it’s not a deal breaker for any Casio aficionados. That includes, one day, having Solar Power as well.
