Miami Beach cracks down on spring breakers

Officials in Miami Beach, Florida, are "breaking up" with spring breakers in a new ad campaign after an uptick in crime and violence during spring break months. They're implementing new safety measures, such as curfews and DUI check points, to crack down on violent behavior.

Businesses don't make much from the Breakers...they dont buy nor consum like middle aged or elderly people with real money... breakers stay 2 days, sleep/passout on the beach..eat out of bags of chips and 711 stores...Barf and go home broke..

This wouldn't be happening if party goers didn't act like complete fools and/or criminals near the strip. There is a time and place for a big party that should be far away from businesses and bystanders.

I have to laugh at how much things have changed during my days. Spring break? My Mom called it spring cleaning and that's what we'd be doing for most of it.

I remember spending 13 days for spring break in Orlando and Fort Lauderdale in 1970. Massive amounts of students enjoying ourselves and no violence at all. The only thing that gave me some concern was the beach at Orlando was so crowded it took me 45 minutes to go from waist high water into the shore. Everyone was having fun.

They are doing what Palm Springs, CA had to do.
I was in middle school at the peak of palm springs, spring break. Eventually they arrested for any and all reasons and then the crowds stopped coming.
From those that live in the area....we are relieved!!
When you have naked, drunk people just sleeping on your lawns..or even breaking in your cars to pass out drunk, then you really do not like this type of partying in your town.
