Just tried out the latest Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo featuring the Junon area. It was good for what it was but perhaps I was the problem... Are you also a problem?

I feel the same. I want to play it. I loved the Nibelheim demo. I just feel disconnected with the newer demo. But still have the same hype as always for the game.

Yeah this confirms why I have avoided playing the demos. I want to experience it in the context of the game and don't want to skip around. Thanks for taking one for them team though. 🙂 Amazing ending.

You're not alone. I'm not a horrible gamer, but even playing the Nibelheim portion made me feel like I was getting a hang of it. But then the Junon demo dropped and I felt like I really sucked at gaming. I've seen others say the same thing, so I think it was a poor choice of area as it was very complex. Then again, I know they want to show off the combat. The area felt a bit stale but it is just a demo and it's restricted so I get it.

Can't wait to play this game for a couple weeks then shelve it forever when Dragon's Dogma 2 comes out.

Bigger turnoff for me with that demo was MAI. It was a bad idea to implement such a gimmick in the way they did without a way to make it wholly optional or instead of having her chatter in the bestiary. The game already has plenty of combat chatter, and I don't of need a 21 fact breakdown of a creature's biology and genealogy mid combat; or a cutesy AI telling me how my performance was post combat. I'm perfectly capable of reading HUD elements.

It's refreshing to see this kind of opinion because it reflects what my husband and I felt when he played this demo (although for us the entire thing was not our cup of tea, not just the Junon part). There was even one point where my husband, who's super invested and has been eagerly waiting for this game to come out for months, turned to me and said "I have negative hype for this game now." I had concerns all along but I'm an outsider who just watches him play so having him say that really surprised me. He even reconsidered buying the game at all, but the tsunami of intense positivity on the internet convinced him to give it a try when it comes out. Hopefully you're right and while the appetizers were not to our taste, the full game will be a different beast altogether. Fingers crossed!

Only fanboys will play the game more than once with the horrific job the did with the story. Nothing they've done after 7 in the compilation has been even decent. I did like the non boss combat in rebirth and remake (the boss bagtoes are too game-y) and wtf is with red 13 not sounding like an adult? They very clearly thought he was a full grown adult until meeting his grandfather he shouldnt sound like an anime 16 year old

(While i think this new seris is garbage, that big battle as cloud in remake where youre fighting all the shinra guys before the lame ass roche dude was awesome and maybe the best ff fight ive had of any)
