2024 Fiat 500e Review: Great City Car, But... At This Price?

The 2024 #Fiat 500e Inspired by Beauty is a $37,000 electric city car that is wildly cute, pretty good to drive, well packaged, and... expensive. It's not particularly quick, it doesn't go especially far on a charge, and it doesn't charge all that fast. None of those are serious demerits if the price is right, but would you be into this #Fiat500e when there are other, larger, faster, EVs on sale for the same kind of money?

I owned a fiat 500 and 500e. I like this weird car, i want this one so bad, especially the black inspired by music one. But its so unfortunate that the pricepoint is so inaccessible for me in my life atm. Im willing to deal with the relatively low range and mediocre charging. I dont commute far distances and would be able to get away with fast charging every 4 days or so. Its stupid i want one, its no where near the best usage of money, but i just dont mind. Maybe if some used ones hit, or a great lease deal, i can pick 1 up in the future

Seems like Stellantis giving their CEO a record-setting bonus payout… literally, RIGHT before their disastrous profit earnings were published… shows that “trickle-down economics” still works, but only from poorer - to - richer.

Here in the UK on AutoTrader today there is a Fiat 500e '22 plate on sale for £9950. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to buy a new one of these at nearly £40K new. I don't think we get the Chevy Bolt here, more's the pity. It seems like a much better alternative to anything Stellantis has to offer on this side of the pond. I'll stick to my turbo diesel Nissan Juke thanks all the same.

These cars have the biggest depreciation of all electric cars in Denmark. Just buy it used with low mileage :D We just bought a 42kw ICON from 2022 with 6k miles on it.. for less than half of the original price ... its technically brand new. So let the dealer / previous owner take the hit i would say.

Great review Jake, interesting point to make is that this generation 500e a year old is about £12k in the UK. I’d say a great used buy

Looks pretty damn nice, price notwithstanding. What are your feelings on this versus something like the Mini Electric for their intended environment?

Nice review. I owned the Gen 1 500e with the 24k battery and 87 miles of range, ( that's if you had a tailwind and were going downhill). What killed it for me was the wild fluctuation in range, especially during cooler weather or steep terrain. Living in SF, you are always climbing hills. I now own a Chevy Bolt. The perfect size for my city commute and almost 300 miles of range, charging only once a week. As stylish as the Fiat is, not worth the price to me.

We need more EVs like this... but that price is absurd. The Bolt is the value king, and this does nothing to change that.

Jake. Inspired by Red come in White and Black with Red accents and, obviously Red on Red.

If a car ever had a face, this is the car.

I had one, sold it. Funny car but terrible range and expensive.

Too expensive, too little range, too small. It was obviously designed for the European market. In that price range I'd get a Kona EV with considerably more range and a more acceptable size for US roads.

I have a 2015 gas version and it gets better mileage and has longer range. What exactly is this version supposed to be better at than the ice version?
