Maybe its because I'm German but I remember fillys as very popular. Many collechted them, the toys and magazines were at every store, they were a popular gift, etc
I had an ice arena, two towers, 3 advent calenders and a collection of the fillys themselves.

I think i barely remember those but not from the show i believe there would put small little ponys that felt velvet like as gifts to their magazine and i was obsessed with those until one day they disappeared and i couldn't find anymore
