A bit punchier, a bit more clarity.

The Volume is so high that the sound gets distorted in the recording. This makes it hard to hear the details.

These are some of the best DiMarzio's around. I have found so much of their pickup catalog to be dark, boomy, or muddy, but Joe, being the PAF guy that he is, manages to make DiMarzio produce something that is truly great AND versatile. I swear, ALL the Satch pickups are fantastic, FRED, Mo' Joe, Satchur8...though, honestly, with FRED I swear, I can close my eyes and 100% hear his 90s tone, which makes sense that's what he was using back then. I still think the FRED wins, though I don't think you could ever go wrong with a Satch pickup (and his later models seem to "scream" easier, so that's a nice bonus)

Fred is the original satriani sound and it sounds hotter although Mo Joe is designed to be hotter. Thank you for the video.

Great demo, and great playing!
I think I’m going to try the Fred in my Les Paul!

So I have a weird question... so I've tried tons and tons of pickups over the years, but theres something very special about two pickups in particular; the dimarzio fred and dimarzio breed both have this unique quality where harmonics "jump out"... I know this sounds like some tone voodoo nonsense, but if you play a fred next to a paf pro or something you'd know what I mean. Its this weird "presence" knob just for harmonics thats turned up to 10, I have no idea how to explain it effectively otherwise lol.

I've never played a mo joe; but since its based on the FRED and well, used by Satch... does it share this quality? Im looking to get some new pickups for my rg550, currently leaning on a breed bridge and evo neck; but Im not too sure what I want to settle on yet.

Cheers

I prefer Fred for solos, Mo Joe for Clean songs

Strictly Fred. Js1200 is the best Joe Satriani Guitar Model

The MoJoe has a honk to it that cuts, but maybe a bit of a specific sound. The Fred seems floatier and less focused, but maybe more versatile? They're both pretty unique

I honestly think the Mo Joe has a bit better sustain
