I'm not quite sure he came over as presidential, but as one of the contributors here suggested if he reads the prepared script he is doing well. I suspect, believe it or not, that he has come to realise that there are a lot more people, mainly non supporters who will treat him well if he just sticks to the script. It may not be what his core supporters want to hear, but he's very likely to gradually lose large numbers of them anyway, mainly because he can't build the wall and he can't deliver on major tax reform. If I were to be cynical, I would have thought that he now visualises an unhappy ending and that, with careful advice and a great deal of humility in accepting that advice, his sole aim is to reduce the severity of the outcome. I think he now knows many things he didn't previously know - and that's a big step for someone who thought he knew everything and knew very little - it's even more important that his core supporters get to recognise that.
