TAROM Reveals NEW Livery!

TAROM, the flag carrier of Romania, has unveiled its new livery on its first ATR 72-600. TAROM's new livery features an enlarged swallow on the tail and a slightly brighter blue with a more modern tone. However, it seems similar to Lufthansa's new livery, though TAROM had the blue livery before Lufthansa introduced its new livery a few years ago. Find out more in the video!

"Astăzi, primul dintre cele nouă ATR 72-600 din TAROM (YR-ATJ) a ajuns la București după zborul de livrare de la Toulouse. Aeronava poartă o nouă livrare, care va împodobi și alte 6 ATR 72-600. Celelalte două (8 și 9) vor avea o livrare specială, după cum ne-a spus directorul general al TAROM.

YR-ATJ a aterizat la ora locală 14:40 pe pista 26L, după ce a zburat non-stop de pe aeroportul Francazal, Toulouse. Își va opera primul zbor de venituri în 2-3 zile. Până la sfârșitul lunii martie, încă patru 72-600 de membri se vor alătura flotei TAROM. Încă două vor ajunge în această vară, iar ultimele două vor intra în flotă până în septembrie, fiecare pictată într-o lipie specială.

Ne-am întrebat directorul general al TAROM dacă întreaga flotă va fi, de asemenea, vopsită în noua livrare, iar el ne-a spus că nu a fost luată încă o astfel de decizie. Aceste ATR 72-600 oferă 72 de locuri (dispunere de două clase) și sunt închiriate timp de 10 ani de la Nordic Aviation Capital. Aceste noi ATR-uri vor înlocui treptat cele șapte 42-500 și două 72-500 ale TAROM."

"Today, TAROM’s first of nine ATR 72-600s (YR-ATJ) has arrived in Bucharest after its delivery flight from Toulouse. The aircraft wears a new livery, which will also adorn 6 other ATR 72-600s. The remaining two (8th and 9th) will have a special livery, as TAROM’s CEO told us.

YR-ATJ has landed at 14:40 local time on runway 26L, after flying non-stop from Francazal Airport, Toulouse. It will operate its first revenue flight in 2-3 days. By the end of March, four more 72-600s will join TAROM’s fleet. Two more will arrive this summer, and the last two will enter the fleet by September, each one painted in a special livery.

We’ve asked TAROM’s CEO if the entire fleet will also be painted in the new livery, and he told us no such decision has been taken yet. These ATR 72-600s offer 72 seats (2-class layout) and are leased for 10 years from Nordic Aviation Capital. These new ATRs will gradually replace TAROM’s seven 42-500 and two 72-500."

I’ve flown their ATR from Bucharest to Yerevan and for the whole ride I felt like I was going to die. Seats falling apart and a very dangerous plane.

Definitely not flying them again.

Im not a fan of the new livery. Its overly busy and it seems they tried to add shading to the swallow. That would be ok if it was on the tail alone, not enlarged to that size.
What I would have done is take the old livery...the one they had on 707s and change that to blue, with some tweaks and go for a retro look, add silver to the belly and engines (since Lufthansa gave that up) and take if from there. The logo also looks REALLY weird from the ground when boarding the plane.

And totally unrelated, but you just solved a mystery. For the last 3 years I was hunting down this bus and I see it in the video. Somebody that flew out of OTP told me of its existence right outside the airport...I located the bus. Unfortunately its not a vintage one, nor the same make as the one I was looking for lol. At least I know now.
