The UN annual climate conference has started in Azerbaijan amid warnings that 2024 will be the hottest year on record. The focus of this year's meeting is on climate financing. Developing countries are seeking assurances they'll get more funding to deal with the impact of climate catastrophes - that are becoming more severe and more frequent. But the election of climate skeptic Donald Trump could put the brakes on proposals to deal with global warming.

The incredible nihilism, greed, and heedlessness about environmental destruction that drove Trump's reelection is reflected in many of the comments on this video. It makes it hard to have any hope for the future.

The U.S. has never been a "leader" in climate change action. We've been a poor second to half a dozen other countries. And now, of course, things will get worse.

The carbon dioxide that enters the atmosphere takes tens of thousands of years to leave.
Data from day 1:
The U$A population accounts for only 5% of the world's population, but account for 25% of the world's total carbon emissions .
Which brings us to today's brutal climate.

You can remove "leadership on climate change" from that thumbnail and the answer is still yes.

To produce a steel girder produces carbon emmissions reguardless of who manufactured it. Recycling steel takes less energy then digging the ore.

correct measurement should be per capita.
By per capita measurement, Canada is the world highest emitter.

All of the world’s democracies have taken significant steps to reduce their annual carbon emissions but it does not matter. The reductions by all. European and North American nations is less than what China has added to its carbon total. China emits more carbon every year than all other industrial nations combined from their more than 3000 coal fired plants. China adds more than Canadas total every year as well as building coal fired plants all over the world

Groan, china puts out more pollution than the US. So does India for that matter. How come they are exempt from climate related criticism?

UN : Developed countries should fulfill their $100 billion Climate Change finance promise as soon as possible
23 Jun 2022 — At COP15 in 2009, the G7 and other rich countries promised to provide "scaled-up, new and additional finance" to the value of $100 billion a year by 2020 to support the global South with their climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts.
