Thurman vs Garcia PREVIEW: March 4, 2017 - PBC on CBS

The fight for the top spot in the welterweight division is almost here.

This highly anticipated showdown between 147-pound champions Keith "One Time" Thurman and Danny "Swift" Garcia will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and will air live on CBS at 9pm ET / 6pm PT on March 4, 2017.

The fight to the top of the welterweight division has been an exciting one. With a division loaded with big names like Shawn Porter, Robert Guerrero, Lamont Peterson, Adrien Broner and Sammy Vasquez Jr., it's no easy feat to claim the top spot, but one name can finally claim the 147-pound crown... for now.

Thurman has two major advantages over Garcia: Speed and Power. I doubt very much Thurman will stay in the pocket and trade with Garcia. Thurman will pick Garcia apart, moving in and out with his quicker footwork. Garcia is very good, but Thurman is better. As long as Thurman fights smart, he should win by decision or late TKO.

I think Thurman will win by a close decision. Danny usually takes the first few rounds to figure his guy out and get the timing down so Thurman will really need to start fast and make Garcia respect his power, make him know that he isn't in there with a Malignaggi or a Sammy Vargas but a real top ranked Welterweight. After that he needs to stay calm and box, Danny does not have good foot work and wont be able to cut off the ring if Thurman picked his shots and moves side to side, but One Time much prefers to punch it out than box which will favor Garcia down the stretch. To give Danny his credit, once he finds the timing out, which if you didn't guess by know is easily his best trait, he absolutely is a tough mother fucker to beat. If Thurman starts throwing wildly against Garcia he is going to get peppered with nicely placed counter hooks all night, especially to the body which he just isn't good at taking. Close fight but I feel Thurman just has more in him and will take Danny's 0
