Why Did Nephi Believe the Lord Would Prepare a Way? (Knowhy #263)

“For I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.”
1 Nephi 3:7

Nephi’s story about obtaining the plates teaches that while the Lord may prepare the way, the way prepared is not always easy. Nephi had to travel 500 miles round trip in a scorching desert and face off with a powerful leader. Nephi wrote this account to illustrate how the Lord would prepare a way for those who obey. He even used a chiasm that focuses on commandments at it's center.

I don't understand where you get the 250 miles from. I read that they went a 3 days journey into the wilderness. That would be an average of 83 miles a day. I would like to know where your information came from.
