United Parcel Service, Inc., or UPS, is the world's largest package delivery company. In 2003, the Atlanta-based company shipped approximately 3.4 billion items to over 200 countries and territories. Although it began as a simple bicycle messenger service in 1907, how did it rise to such heights?
UPS began its post-IPO acquisition spree in 2000, when it purchased Challenge Air Cargo, a Miami-based freight carrier that operates in Latin America. UPS paid approximately $185 million in cash in April 2001 for Mail Boxes Etc., a franchise-based chain of stores in the United States that provides packing, shipping, and mail services. UPS acquired Fritz Companies, Inc. in a $456 million stock swap in May 2001 as part of the company's aggressive move into global supply-chain management. Then, in late 2002, UPS Freight Services and UPS Logistics Group merged to form UPS Supply Chain Solutions, a streamlined unit with operations in 120 countries.
Despite the implosion of numerous e-commerce companies and the package deliveries that died with them, UPS managed to grow during the recessionary early 2000s. Total revenues reached $33.49 billion by 2003, with faster growth in international package deliveries and non-package operations making up for shortfalls in the US package delivery sector. Even now, UPS remains one of the most respected companies in its industry and a formidable competitor.

How did they manage to mess up almost every number shown in the video? They don’t match up to what he says. Like they don’t know how zeros work

I've worked for UPS for 15 years. I love it. It's a great company. It's military like in the way it's ran and how you are talked to at times. If you get offended easily it is not the company for you. It will make you thick skinned and tough. If you stick with it long enough you'll make over $100k. I drive the semi trucks now. My wife doesnt need to work and we can go on vacations yearly and still save thousands a year. I'm kind of jealous that new hires start at $21 an hour. I started at $8.50 and we were all dirt poor. My back hurts today but I'd never take it back. UPS made me tough. I'll always love this company.

Hi, I'm Vincenzo. I've worked here for over a year and a half.
I come to work with a solid gold attitude, a open heart and an open mind for whatever today brings. I can assure you that I will give my absolute best at all times, and try to make your experience in our store as enjoyable as possible.

When on delivery, I busy my ass to make sure that I don't have to deal with Steve Martin in 1987....

While it is currently Christmas season, which is our busiest time of year, what gets my through every day is the interactions I have with people everyday. I can help people save money, time and send whatever they need to wherever they want in less than five minutes, but it's the interactions I have with people that give my work purpose.

As you may already know from reading previous reviews of our store, I go out of my way to make sure that everyone is recognized, understood and taken care of like I would my own best friend or grandmother.

It drives me crazy when I go somewhere to shop or ask questions about services and either nobody is available or all of the the available people are congregating together away from patrons and people who just want help.

I also work with some fine people and can actually say that my boss is my friend.

Listen, retail is hard.
Shipping and Receiving is hard.
Combine the two with customer service and
you got a job most people wouldn't want to do.

We have almost a thousand mailboxes and have to deal with each and every mailbox holder.

We deal with entitled jerks on a daily basis and quite often we deal with people who don't understand how much goes into our work and the business behind it:
I deal with every single shipping company in America or available to America and handle shipments on a regular basis. The basis being that I need to understand my job of understanding shipping labels and doing my absolute best to make sure every parcel and package is delivered or shipped to the correct person.

This job requires rapid understanding of multiple applications, addresses, geography, customer service, sub windows systems, detective work, interpersonal skills, sales, measurements and many other factors which may be experienced.

We deal with every shipping company under the sun and we all bust our butts to make sure that what needs to go some place gets there when it's supposed to be there.

And you know what?

That's that...
That's the job...
That's what it is....
Thank you for your listening...

The Teamsters Union with UPS has much more power now in their negotiations because since the pandemic more and more people are making their purchases online which requires parcel delivery.

EVERYBODY.... Please read this before you use this company !!
I was expecting a delivery which confined fresh food " Kosher".... Unfortunately I was taken ill in the early hours, prior delivery which was friday 26 May, I got in touch with them and they said they will attempt another delivery, IF that is missed then they will take parcel to a collection point..I informed them I was house bound so it needed to be delivered..NO PROBLEM, they said..and I waited for them to come...and I waited & waited..
Got back in touch with them, and they said it would definitely be delivered on the Monday 29th possibly Tuesday 30th....nothing came until.... Monday 5th june...so imagine this, FRESH FOOD, not refrigerated for 10 days...the delivery driver had his top pulled over his mouth/nose the STENCH was UNBELIEVABLY DISGUSTING... I told my son don't open it the smell was THAT BAD ...
That food cost my £70 my boys had to re..bag it several times to hide the smell so as to throw it all AWAY...
UPS said they would need proof, photos, and THEY would need to inspect parcel, as obviously I must be telling LIES, common sense would tell you FRESH FOOD not refrigerated for over 10days... Wouldn't be edible to man or beast..but they still don't believe me and have refused to compensate me..what do YOU ALL REALLY THINK...BE 100% HONEST, if you were me and this happened to you, tell me ?!

How does UPS still claim to be the most reliable? I paid 150 plus twice for overnight shipping for it to never arrive. I would trust Fed Ex, USPS over them. Any day. These were time sensitive materials both times. No one to call for a problem? This is a multi billion dollar company. Employees hate it, so why would they go above and beyond?
