Had one a ways back. It was good for a while. Lock up surfaces soft and move fast lasted almost a year

I love that knife. Thanks for the quick look

I think you said it perfectly Jerad. 8cr is a good steel, if the price is right. It kills me how people talk about 8cr like its aluminum foil, and you can barely skin an apple before it's as dull as a butter knife. I don't get excited over it, but it's not like its junk. its gonna get the job done and you hone and strop after working, like you really should with everything. There are steels that I wouldn't buy at any price, but 8cr ain't it.

I like the blade shape as well. Like you I would have preferred 14 28 or 12 27 my 2 favorite budget steels

Great knife for the price, as long as it's heat treated properly and the mechanics of the knife work like they should then at $24 you can't go wrong with this one. For people who want an edc and are on a budget I recommend Ruike alot usually their 14c28n or even the 12c27. I'll wait for the full review on this one too see of its another one I recommend or not. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

Hmm..RUIKE usually uses 14C28.wonder why they went with 8CR on this one?

So they got a lot of things right. But not drilling and tapping to make it ambi. Good review. Thanks👍🏻

hello neeve, great video as always! u just wanted to ask, appart from the blade steel and the steel scale, what are the main features of this that holds it back from being a medium range flipper?

i have one, and i love it, the steel 8cr13mov is better than my cold steel luzon

I like the blade shape because well I'm a chef and I like how the blade is shaped like a chef knife with that geometry and grind combination. I'm ordering one right now because it looks like a great blade for edc and being all but a 4 inch blade is really awesome for such a thin slicey stock. The tip looks nice and pointy almost like a clip point but without the clip lol if that even makes sense. It's actually a 3.9 inch blade ruikes specs are off. Also the thickness of blade is 3mm not 3.5 like the specs say from what another reviewer says who measured everything. The roller bearings are a big plus as well. Way stronger than ceramic ball bearings for sure. Yeah it's 8cr13mov steel but from what I understand ruike does a cryogenic cool down during heat treat to give the max Rockwell which is around 59. Definitely a lot of pluses about this knife at this price even with that steel. Hell it's even got square cutouts removed on the frame lock side. Seems like an awesome deal to me and thanks for the review

Okay. So what is the best all-round steel for an EDC pocket folder?

This or the ganzo fh921 ? Which will be a more satisfying purchase

Nice knife. I wonder why not 14c28n
Did Ruike realise that maybe they were selling the 14c28n models a bit on the cheap side.🤔 (From Dave)

If the P801 is any indication of the quality the Ruike has for the $, I'm in. I like the design. ✌️

In my country it offers for $35(converted) but now it offers for $24. I actually don't know how to feel, is it actually worth it? I like the simplicity of it.

Even at $25, 8Cr13Mov is a bad deal in 2021. Tangram runs Acuto 440 at this price. You can get Sandvik steels from the same company for just a few dollars more. Schrade has knives in 9Cr18Mov at this price. Even with a mediocre heat treatment, 9Cr18Mov can cut circles around 8Cr13Mov.

I'd recommend anyone on a budget save for one of their knives in 14c28n in the $30 range

Man you had me going until you flip the knife over and it wasn't the same color on the other side I hate it when they do that out of all the talent the world that these people have they can't make the other side match

Blade looks just like the P661, only bigger. Too bad they went with 8cr..
