Cooler and Broly are two big villains that deserv an arc in the dragon ball series.

Think of Cooler's fifth form this way: It's not that he trained his body to unlock more potential, it's that he simply used his race's innate shapeshifting to build a better body.
If it helps, think of Frieza and Cooler as being structures made of legos. Frieza used training to harden the plastic until they were like steel, while Cooler rebuilt himself into a stronger structure using the material he already had. No contradiction.

One thing that always struck me was how Cooler's accent (in the English dubs) was different from Cold's and Frieza's. In my headcanon, he was originally supposed to inherit Cold's throne, but Frieza was born and had more innate power, so he was shoved aside and raised by his mother, thus explaining the difference and also his resentment towards his sibling. This could also imply that Cooler is more willing to do hard work and train in order to gain power, unlike Frieza who seems to be comfortable with the power he was born with.

If I remember correctly Frieza implies that he intentionally made his higher form golden so it would be more distinguishable, maybe Cooler just had different (less gaudy) style

Cooler had instant transmission from the first movie. He even mentioned that it was his favourite technique and was surprised that goku had it.

Cooler's Revenge in my opinion has the best U.S. Soundtrack in any DBZ movie.

Cooler is my favorite character overall in the DBZ Universe. You don't have to remind me he's non cannon but just overall and I'd actually say Meta-Cooler over Cooler but still. Meta-Cooler learned from his mistakes, was much smarter and kicked both Goku and Vegetas asses. The way he can generate power in seconds, instant transmission and humorous smartallic insults made me like him even more lol. Wish he was cannon, oh well

Cooler is my favorite Dragon Ball movie villain. I just always loved his design (especially in fifth form) and personality. Felt like a more low-key but cooler (pun intended) version of his younger brother. Cooler's Revenge was also the movie I saw the most of as a kid, along with Dead Zone- as I had those 2 on VHS. After seeing that movie so many times, he truly became my favorite.
