Purely so technical and musical. That Beethoven sonata is 50 minutes of torture, that Chopin sonata is beautiful but very technically hard, Rach's sonatas are so massive as well

Inserting Liszt "IVb Arpeggio" etude is a nice cut, expecially the first version is sometimes mentioned as the most difficult piano ever. I know that you inserted only a piece of author, but also Liszt's transcription of Beethoven IX Symphony is hellish, especially the fourth movement. In any case I would have inserted also "Trois movements da Petrushka" by Stravinsky, which is insanely difficult (also it is the only piece, beside Islamey, that has the infamous tecnique of one hand octave glissando).

finally a list I can agree with! there are definitely so many more pieces than this but these are great. im so sick of hearing ppl say la campenalla, moonlight sonata, flight of the bumble bee are the hardest

It looks sped up because the trills in hammerklavier are like- can’t explain see it yourself

This masterpiece is absolutely beautiful. I cannot begin to describe the sight of such a piece. Especially be Liszt. As a MIDI Piano fan, I love the sheer impossibility of Beethoven, Liszt, and Ravel. I’d love to view the sheet music.

Chopin Sonata is the pinnacle of all piano. Sometimes I think maybe Chopin was speaking to a higher power while composing and this actually the music we might hear when we enter Heaven.

Should have put chopins allegro de concert thats the hardest chopin piece outside of a sonata

The only thing which makes most of these hard is insanely high tempo. They sound better with around 2.2x slower tempo

I did attempt Scarbo and Scriabin 5, and failed horrible at the start already both so I quited that.

Acording to me Chopin’s most difficult composition is {Dobble Thirds Etude} it’s so difficult🎶
